I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T

What is it about a successful BLACK WOMAN that some men can’t seem to handle? Is it the confidence in our step? Or is it the tone of our voice? Or what about the Prada, Coach or Gucci bag that WE PURCHASED with OUR MONEY? This is a question that remains unanswered to a number of my single, intelligent black sisters (including myself). Why is it so many of us are single? They say:”Your standards are too high!” My reply:  “AS IF!!!!” Is it too much to ask for a man who is GOD-FEARING, confident in who HE is, financially (and mentally) stable, healthy, ATTRACTIVE, caring, and WORKING?! Sheesh! It’s almost humiliating for a man to even approach a woman when he KNOWS he can’t take care of himself, let alone entertain the likes of an accomplished woman. They say, “Maybe you are too arrogant or haughty and that intimidates a man.” My reply: *throws hair* “Excuse me?!” Now I’m “stuck up” because I’m educated and have a career? Now I’m arrogant because I’m TRULY the epitome of I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T (and I knew how to spell it BEFORE Webbie dropped the single)? C’MON SON! These are all excuses and reasons for men NOT to step their game up!

What I’ve come to realize is, not all men are meant to be HUSBANDS. Not all men want WOMEN, and certainly not all men are meant to be FATHERS. As women, we must continue to uplift one another, inspire one another and remain focused! Often times we put men at the top of our list and everything else appears to fall by the wayside. Unfortunately some of our “list toppers” aren’t even worthy of the honor/title. I’m not saying there aren’t any good men around, because I do know they exist. However, it always amazes me at the choices some men make (to each his/her own) but I will never understand it. I’ve literally seen men leave sugar for Sh!t and think nothing of it. I’ve heard on several occasions that men want to be in “control” of situations. And that some of us, don’t know how to “allow a man to be a man.” I too am victim of this. I make my own money, bought my own house, take care of my son (alone) and I’m not “used” to a man doing anything for me. I have been both the man and the woman in my life and I do see how it can be difficult to let go the “manly” role. But this is where a REAL MAN steps up. Ladies, I believe that man can TEACH you {by example} how to allow him to be a good man to you.  But we must allow him to do so!

Until that special person enters your life (and please be sure he is special) you keep doing you, hold your head HIGH, and ask GOD to send Mr. Right, not Mr. Right NOW into your life.

i’ll like to say i date an independent woman (THANK GOD) and put a ring on her finger. i like independent women because they are cheaper to maintain to be honest. LOL. sometimes i think the issue is some women don’t understand that they can be the breadwinner in these times. w/ equal opportunities available for men and women a woman can make more money, have the better car, house and what not. that’s normal now.l think issue is that some women don’t realize that they are the man’s backbone. the reason most men are successful is due to the woman that have backing them.. not saying every man needs a woman to be successful, but most of the time a woman is responsible for a man reaching his full potential whether it’s a wife or his mother. you look at michael jordan, or 50 cent, or diddy, or just your regular lawyer, doctor, or ceo i’m pretty sure a woman had a hand in the success. just a thought
